Germans check out bio-energy projects

Posted on January 24, 2013

GERMAN firms are interested in partnering with local companies to develop biomass and biogas projects given the country’s rich agricultural resources, an European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) official said yesterday.

“German firms see the potential in the country and are willing to invest in some projects. We are looking forward to good bio-energy projects that are coming,” ECCP Vice-President Martial G. Beck briefed reporters.

Mr. Beck said representatives of eight German companies are in the country “to share knowledge and introduce innovative solutions to bio-energy for the Philippine market, and to identify local partners and projects.”

The eight firms are Vastani GmbH, Eckrohrkessel GmbH, Envitec Biogas AG, GTP Solutions GmBH, Binder GmbH, Ascentec GmbH, Novis GmbH, and Pregobello GmbH.

“There is a huge potential in biomass and biogas in the Philippines. But many local companies don’t have financing or don’t know what technology to use. The eight German firms have very good technology for small and medium projects related to biomass or biogas,” Mr. Beck added. -- Claire-Ann Marie C. Feliciano
