Fruit exporters report sales in other markets

FRUIT EXPORTERS have reported a total of $8.54 million in sales to "alternative export markets" during a recent road show in Singapore, according to a statement released yesterday.

The Center for Trade Expositions and Mission (CITEM), an attached agency of the Trade department, said bananas, mangoes, pineapples, and coconut sugar and water topped the fruit exports which attracted buyers -- both on site and order placements -- during Singapore’s Food and Hotel Asia in April.

"An undetermined amount of leads for post-event negotiations and follow-up are still being processed," the statement said, adding that this translates to "new markets" for Philippine fruit exports.

The event has been attended by over 40,000 investors from 91 countries worldwide.
