RACETRACK OPERATOR Manila Jockey Club, Inc. plans to install betting stations in government-owned casinos starting next month.

The effort, which will come on stream by next month, should boost revenues this year versus 2010 levels, the firm said in a statement yesterday.

The listed leisure firm inked a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday with state-run Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) for the placement of off-track betting (OTB) stations in Pagcor’s casinos and affiliate gaming firms.

“We are working to open some of them by December… and eventually in all casinos by 2012, Alfonso Victorio G. Reyno III, Manila Jockey Club executive vice-president and chief operating officer, said in the statement.

At present, Pagcor operates 13 casinos as well as 18 slot machine VIP clubs, while Manila Jockey Club operates 263 OTBs in Metro Manila and adjacent provinces.

The transaction will be mutually beneficial to both parties, Mr. Reyno said. “Pagcor will get more player traffic in their casinos while we expand the reach of our OTBs and improve the betting access for quality punters,” he added.

Manila Jockey Club said it hopes to replicate the success of its operations within Resorts World Manila in Pasay City in this new effort. -- Franz Jonathan G. de la Fuente
