Rhian keeps a steady pace

Posted on December 16, 2014

WHILE OTHER young stars seem to all rush to get to the top, 24-year-old Rhian Ramos would rather keep her own sweet pace when it comes to developing her career.

After showing off her acting skills in the nightly GMA Network TV drama series My Destiny, Ms. Ramos is preparing to do an indie movie with actor Piolo Pascual.

Singer Jeffrey Hidalgo will direct the romance thriller, which is already being eyed as an entry for international film festivals next year.

“I am very excited about the project,” Ms. Ramos told reporters. “It will be my first time working with Piolo [Mr. Pascual]. At the same time, we will be handled by a new director, Jeffrey [Mr. Hidalgo], which makes doing the project even more exciting,” she added.

The movie, entitled Silong, will have Ms. Ramos play a badly beaten woman rescued by a widowed country doctor.

Born Rhian Denise Ramos Howell on Oct. 3, 1990, Ms. Ramos first made a splash on television playing Leah Lazaro in 2006’s Captain Barbell opposite Richard Gutierrez, and in one of her most memorable roles as Jodi/Jenna in Stairway to Heaven opposite Dingdong Dantes.

Aside from her indie movie, Ms. Ramos is busy as the latest endorser of, an online gaming site that allows its players to earn points and win prizes.

“I’ve had a lot of challenges that I’ve had to overcome in my career and I am so thankful to be where I am now,” Ms. Ramos said. -- JOV
