Posted on October 08, 2013

WOMEN’s lifestyle channel ETC rolls out new shows and new seasons of its most-watched programs tonight as part of the local network’s efforts to air the latest episodes as soon as they aired on the US.

Adding to its ever-growing lineup of programs is the new sitcom Super Fun Night and supernatural drama The Originals. Meanwhile, fan favorite The Vampire Diaries returns on ETC for its fifth season.

After its pilot telecast on ABC in the US last Wednesday, Super Fun Night will air on ETC every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. starting tonight.

Australian actress Rebel Wilson, who became popular for her funny antics in movies such as Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect, is the lead star and writer of Super Fun Night.

She plays chubby Kimmie Boubier, who for the last 13 years has lived a sheltered life with her two best friends and roommates, Helen-Alice (Liza Lapira) and Marika (Lauren Ash). However, when Kimmie receives a big promotion at the NY law firm that she works at, she meets British attorney Richard Royce (Kevin Bishop), son of the firm’s senior partner, who mentions that he likes girls with a "bit of chunk." With new possibilities in her life, Kimmie is out to convince her friends that life is not just for the pretty and the popular, and that it is time that they started living life to the fullest.

Meanwhile, the fifth season of The Vampire Diaries will air starting tonight at 8 p.m.

After spending a passion-filled summer with Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Elena (Nina Dobrev) is ready for her first day at Whitmore College along with best friends Caroline (Candice Accola) and Bonnie. She is unaware that Bonnie is dead, having sacrificed herself to bring back Elena’s brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen). Meanwhile, a now very human, Katherine (also played by Ms. Dobrev) pays an unexpected visit to Silas (Paul Wesley), the doppelganger of Stefan (also played by Mr. Wesley).

The season premiere of The Vampire Diaries aired in the US on the CW channel last Thursday.

Meanwhile, a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, will debut on ETC tonight at 10 p.m.

The series follows the original vampire-werewolf hybrid Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and his original vampire brother and sister Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt), as they return to New Orleans, the city their family helped build 300 years ago.

The CW channel launched The Originals in the US last Thursday, after the season premiere of The Vampire Diaries.
